Job Description
The role of the Part-Time Online Chat Representative-Remote is responsible for serving our members’ needs through all channels, including chat, messaging, email, and even by phone. They are a one-stop shop for providing resolution on various topics such as debit cards, disputes, deposits posting, NSF fees, transfers, and so much more. They are responsible for cross-selling Pelican products and services and opening and closing deposit accounts of all types. The ideal candidate must have excellent grammar and writing skills and be comfortable in a sales environment! While this is a remote position, at least sixty (60) days of onsite training in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is mandatory.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PART-TIME ONLINE CHAT REPRESENTATIVE-REMOTE INCLUDES:
- Efficiently and effectively answering member inquiries, solving problems, and assisting with transactions and lending inquiries through digital channels, including email, web and mobile messaging, chat, and text.
- Acting as a subject matter expert for all Pelican products, services, and promotions including, but not limited to membership eligibility, digital banking, bill pay, mobile deposit, transfers (Zelle, external, internal, etc), online applications, card and fraud disputes, deposit processing, merger support, and location information.
- Providing support to ensure online memberships and deposit product applications are completed and submitted within a timely manner.
- Obtaining proper verification, documentation, and signatures on all applicable member interactions.
- Maintaining a strong working knowledge of Pelican’s products and services.
PART-TIME ONLINE CHAT REPRESENTATIVE-REMOTE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in a customer service position
- Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and member service skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, and PPT
OTHER THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS POSITION:
- FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES:
- Only work 3-5 days/week (20-25 hours/week)!
- Some weekend availability is required.
- Weekday shifts can take place between 7:00am – 7:00pm.
- Weekend shifts can take place between 8:00am – 3:00pm.
- Telecommuting
- Telecommuting is required for this position.
- Requirements include:
- A dedicated workspace
- Secure and strong internet connection
- Not being a caretaker for any dependents (adult or child) for the entirety of the scheduled shift
- An environment free from loud noises or outside distractions
- The first 60 days will be on-site for training at our Corporate Campus located at 2675 O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge.
